In Loving Memory – Mybe Cham

“So many of us were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our dear brother and colleague, Mbye Cham — a brother many of us have known and worked with over many decades. His legacy touches many continents, and we are profoundly grateful for his friendship and his collaboration across so many levels of this great international network of Pan-African Cinema. His work, his friendship, and his invaluable collaboration over the years will take time to fully distill and honour, as they span several decades — including here in the UK, in Edinburgh, at the Celebration of Black Cinema in Boston, with friends and colleagues at Howard University in Washington DC, and at every edition of FESPACO in Burkina Faso through the years. It is painful to come to terms with the fact that Mbye is no longer with us in person. But I am grateful to have known this generous, brilliant, and invaluable friend and colleague for over four decades. Rest in perfect peace, my dear brother. We will miss your wisdom and the generosity of spirit that stands as your undeniable legacy.”
